#Split screen games xbox 360 Offline
Yay: The fact that you can play split-screen offline co-op in the age of internet only fragfests is a definite bonus. The best uses of Co-Op are probably the dragging and healing, and the step jumps. Who’s ever seen a door in real life like that? What it comes down to, is that it never really feels like you’re working together, it feels more like you are jumping through hoops the programmers laid out to show off their “Co-Op stuff”.
Some doors require you each to push a button on either side of the door. There are enemies which you basically can’t kill unless your team-mate fills his aggro meter and you sneak around to shoot the baddie in the ass. Co-op sniping always has certain situations where the enemy is unaware of you with their backs turned. Probably all of the co-op specific mechanics feel too contrived. It can get to the point where you want to hurl your controller sometimes.ģ. Get too close to an enemy, and you’ll often find you won’t be able to shoot at him. Maybe the most frustrating thing can be when you’re fighting in close-quarters. Sometimes you end up fighting with the controls more than the enemy. Superhuman accuracy tends to be a trend in shooters these days.Ģ. Luckily you can take a shitload of hits before you die. An enemy blind-firing from behind cover, half the map away will nail you literally the instant you pop your head orbody out of cover. The enemy AI is simply superhuman when it comes to accuracy, even on the lowest difficulty. The interactions between Salem and Rios can be pretty fun.ġ. Good length for the campaign, especially since you’ll probably want to play through on each difficulty level.ĥ.
Achievements like “Kill 250 enemies with Assault Rifles”, etc, are good incentives to play through using all the different types of weapons.Ĥ. I liked buying and customizing guns, and some guns look REALLY badass when they are pimped.ģ. If you’re into split-screen co-op with a buddy, this game is definitely worth buying.Ģ. Overall fun co-op third person shooter action. I’ve heard good things about Army of 2’s coop (and only its coop), but we haven’t gotten around to trying our gamefly copy.ONLY the offline split-screen Co-Op portion of the game is being reviewed here…ġ. I don’t really enjoy simply gunning down swarms of insects with little or no fake tactical depth stapled on top of it. It just made me realize how much more enjoyable it is to have the plot and mission objectives to guide you rather than running from skirmish to skirmish, and how important having your team and the team commands available was to the quality of the experience.ĮDF is good for a few laughs, I guess. Rainbow 6 Vegas was a fine single player and multi experience, but the coop really did nothing for me. Simulating fire and movement employing cover has probably never been so well done in splitscreen.
The plot is no more intrusive than Halo’s (occasionally, gameplay will be interrupted by brief, unskippable radio conversations), and well adapted to including the two players. Gears is the only other one I could actually recommend, although the learning curve is a little steeper. So, you’re kind of starting with the best and working down from there. I don’t like the plot or the game that much as far as single player, but it is without question a very polished coop experience that makes most others look lame in comparison. Halo 3 is the main game I’ve played coop apart from fake guitar games.
